The cold-water system was diverted to allow the hotel to operate with the negligible disruption during our works.
The Client
The hotel was built in 1828 on the sea front of St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. This historic building captures the style and opulence of high the Victorian period, with stunning views over the beach.
During 2023 refurbishment works at the hotel , the cold-water storage tanks in basement looked badly corroded. The tanks in question were a pair of galvanised steel welded tanks of unknown age.
Challenges

Replacing the tanks was never an option due to their location, time and costs involve, although the tanks were old, they were well constructed and with our system extend the working life for another 20 years, with routine inspections and maintenance.
Solution
We arrived on site at 8am, drained dried and prepared the tanks for our system. We offer this service however some clients prefer to do this stage themselves as it’s a saving our time and their money.
We removed the loose rust and rust scale, the tank by manual scraping, wire brush and vacuum ready for application of our tank lining and repair system.
Our water tank joint repair system comprises of several different resin layers, including an anti-corrosion coat, and also woven fibreglass reinforcement bandage if required.
The tanks both had heavy pitting and craters due to their age and length in service none of which are a problem to our specialist team, we don’t create problems but we do solve them.

The Results
Our impervious 2-pack resin-based water tank repair and lining system have been specially developed for treating heavily corroded tanks such as those found on this project.
For commercial reasons, we are unable to show all the different stages of the process, materials and technologies involved.
The team have not yet found a tank that we have been unable to repair and so far we have never had a tank leak that has been treated with our tank lining and repair system.
